Do you know what is really going on with your kid?
You may think they are the poster child, but sometimes you cannot read past the picture.
What are they doing when they leave the house or stay in their room all day?
Teenagers are tricky.
We get annoyed when we think our parents ‘don’t trust us’, but it is the parents job to keep an eye on us. On Monday, May 9, 2016 there will be an opportunity for parents to come and listen to speakers present and discuss the dangerous behavior of teenagers.
This is a great opportunity to be loaded with information parents can take home and hopefully apply to their children on the issues of substance use, violence, eating disorders, juvenile crime, technology, risky games/challenges and more.
Learning about issues, such as these, can help the parent get a clear understanding on what teenagers, not all, are encountered with and the challenges we, teenagers, go through each day.
All of these issues are very dangerous and with the help of the Lakewood Police Department, parents will leave with more knowledge than they arrived with and, if so, can help their child deal with such issues.
There will be a PowerPoint, and exhibit of a teenager’s bedroom and 150+ items that would indicate dangerous behavior. The presentation will be located in Lakewood High School Room A107.
The “snoop and search” starts at 6 p.m. and the presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m. The presentation will last about 2 hours and for further information contact Emily Adkins at emily.adkins@lakewoodcityschools.org.
Due to the material presented, no youth is permitted to attend this awareness program–this is specifically for parents.
