In the past week, a lot has happened, good and bad.
Sadly this article is on a bad topic.
On Saturday, April 30th, outside of the Flying Rib Tavern on Madison Avenue and near Hopkins Avenue, Shawn Sims, age 55, and the victim in this case, 42-years old, who both knew each other, got into a bar dispute. At first it seemed like nothing, just a bar fight, so no one did anything. Then, it escalated very very quickly. Sims pulled out knife and attacked the other man with the weapon. Sims got the man in the neck, then fled. The police, fire department, and an ambulance were all called as soon as the stabbing took place. The victim was rushed to Metro Health, in serious condition.
The Lakewood police took no hesitation in subjecting Sims as a suspect and as armed and dangerous. Over night they had obtained a warrant for his arrest. The Lakewood police still need to find the actual cause of the stabbing, if it was just over the argument or if something else had happened, maybe it being the Sims did it out of self defense or had a “justifiable” reason.
For the victim, at the time he was in serious condition, but has since then has been recovering from the attack and feeling better. Let us all hope that this will not happen again, but who knows…
