On Friday, April 8, the arrest of Mohamed Abrini in Belgium was announced to the public. Mohamed Abrini, a 31 year old, was among Europe’s most wanted for his suspected role in driving people involved in the Paris terrorist attacks, he was also believed to be armed and dangerous. This arrest now means that authorities have arrested a total of two people that were suspected in being involved in the Paris terrorist attacks on November 13, which had killed 130 people.
Other than Mohamed Abrini, Salah Abdeslam was also arrested for his suspected role in being the eight planned attacker. He was also arrested in Belgium shortly after the Brussel attacks.
The evidence that put Mohamed Abrini behind bars was a video that was captured in the French capital that showed Abrini and Abdeslam only a couple of days before the massacre. The car that Mohamed Abrini was driving in the French capital, a Renault Clio, was used in the attacks. Abdeslam tells authorities that he drove a car of the same make and model to the Stade de France, where a suicide bomber had later attacked, and had left the car abandoned. He further states that he had gone to the subway and contacted another person, which was Mohamed Abrini.
Even though relatives of Mohamed Abrini say that he was in Brussels during the night of the Paris attacks, Abrini still remains arrested for his suspected help in the horrible event of the Paris terrorist attacks that had killed 130 people.
