Hoverboards are this year’s holiday favorite. They are selling like crazy, but could these so called “fun” toys be harmful or even deadly?
According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, there had already been 12 incidents in the US alone. The Hoverboard contains a lithium ion battery and they have been catching fire. The fire caused by these batteries destroyed bedrooms and even entire homes.
These boards have been exploding while charging and even while riding. The Hoverboards have no exact reason as to why they are exploding and it is not just one company that this is happening to, this is all of them. There is no way that you could avoid buying one that might not explode.
Officials say to only use the charger that comes in the box, but there is only one charger for the board so you can’t mistake another charger for the one that belongs to it. There have been ore than 30 reports if hospitalizations on hoverboard-related injuries. A lot of the injuries were serious. The included head wounds and major trauma to arms and legs.
The number of explosions increase everyday and if people keep on buying them at the same rate they are, then the number of injuries and explosions will increase more rapidly. These toys are a lot of fun but they are very dangerous. You have to be careful if you are going to buy one and you have to make sure you read everything they have on safety on both the box and on trusted sites.
