We all know that it is The Cardboard Boat Regatta season which deals with Fox 8 News and Kickin’ it with Kenny early in the morning, but as most of the participating parents know, it sadly got cancelled last minute.
Mr. Hille, posted on Twitter around 5 o’clock on Sunday stating, “Kenny Crumpton is sick and the morning boat regatta is cancelled. Do NOT show up in the morning. Spread the word. Attempting to reschedule.”
Immediately, pictures of the post were sent out to other groups, spreading the word of the news.
The next question came to be, Do we still have to go to school because we turned in field trip forms allowing us to miss school? As soon as Mr. Hille heard students were not going to school, he sent out yet another tweet saying, “The students should go to school as another normal Monday. Regatta is still planned for Tuesday afternoon. Spread the word!”
The participants are understandably upset due to the fact that we all have built the boat for this and it counts as extra credit along with having double the chance of maybe getting a good grade on this project when the success rate is BARELY 30% and the 18 groups were hoping to making it across the pool, or more of it, with one of those boats.
The Boat Regatta Project is worth a wonderful 400 points, and each teacher grades it differently — Mrs. Frend, the lighter grader of the teachers, Mr. Hille, the harder of the graders, Mrs. Zaremba, the moderate grader.
Each teacher does base the grading off of the 400 points but it’s the way the students gets the points that is different just the slightest bit, which makes the biggest difference.
