It’s crazy to think that the 2014 Lakewood High School football season is already half over!
Additionally, this marks the point at which the Lakewood Ranger Marching Band changes their halftime show. Performing it for the first time this past Friday at the football game against the Bay Rockets, the band brought its Latin-inspired show to a close and started their western show. Featuring songs such as How the West Was Won, Fanfare for the Common Man, Rawhide, and The Magnificent Seven, it will definitely be an exciting performance.
Be ready to experience exciting drill, as well as features by both the Flags and the Rangerettes. When asked about his choice of theme, Marching Band director Clint Steinbrunner discussed his desire to create a show that had a strong connection to the school. “The LHS mascot is a Ranger, so I thought a western show would be perfect,” he said. The band has worked tirelessly on the show for the past few weeks, and after the first performance, many members agree that the hard work was well worth it.
“The show went really well tonight, but there’s definitely more work to be done,” says Sophomore Rangerette Captain Hanna Chodzin. The band plans to continue this show for the next three or four games, with the next being the annual homecoming game on October 3rd. As one of the more popular games of the season in terms of fans, the pressure will be on for the Lakewood Ranger Marching Band, so make sure to come out and support them this Friday!
